Course Overview

This is training course places particular focus on financial management, related jargons and knowledge in understanding financial management information and interpreting financial statements and ratios for decision making purposes. At the heart of every organization is how the finances are managed.

In the context of Micro Finance organizations, it involves the management of an organization’s financial resources to achieve its goals and objectives. It involves financial planning, setting and managing financial systems, budgeting, internal controls, reading financial statements writing financial reports, conducting cash flow analysis and management, cutting costs and performing several other finance-related functions

Course Outline:
1. What is Finance Vs Accounting.
2. Budgeting
3. Internal Controls
5. Understanding Financial; information and jargon
6. Key Financial Ratios
7. Presentation of and Managing financial performance reports
8. Cash flow Management.
9. International Financial Reporting and Financial standards.

Exercises: After they have read the material for each unit, students are expected to test their own Learning by completing some relevant exercises and tasks.
Assignments: There are six assignments
(continuous assessment tests) and one examination to be offered at the end of the course/ project Paper. Assignments and Continuous Assessment Tests account for 70% while Examination accounts for 30% of the mark. Upon completion of the course you shall be issued with a Diploma Certificate and a course transcript.
